Video Marketing: Everything you need to know but are afraid to ask...

A wise person once told me that there's no such thing as a silly question. If you don't know or are unsure about something, you should always ask.

We've been working with clients on Video Marketing for some time now and wanted to share our most popular FAQs. They help explain why small and medium software businesses like yours should be embracing this medium. 

Q: Why do I need to use video marketing?

A: Quite simply, because it really works! Video is set to be the biggest new way to communicate. By 2017 it will account for 69% of all consumer traffic, and 64% of marketers expect it to dominate their strategies soon. With further statistics such as a one-minute video is worth 1.8 million words, and the realisation that its potential reach is peerless - one in three Britons watch a video at least once a week, that's 20 million people in the UK alone - you really can't afford not to.

Q: Where do I start?

A: That's where we can help. Coming up with a topic and writing a script is daunting for you, but we've been doing it for a while now. Q: What style of video is best?

Q: How long should my video be?

A: We recommend one minute videos, give or take a few seconds either way. Keep it short and sweet, get your key messages across succinctly - if it's too long, you'll lose people's concentration and they won't engage with you. People's attention spans are notoriously small - grab them in the first few seconds or lose them forever. A 2015 Microsoft study found that human attention spans were now just eight seconds, less than a goldfish!

Q: How and where should I promote my video?

A: Our recommendation is everywhere - on your website, your LinkedIn and Twitter feeds, through YouTube ad links, your marketing emails and a landing page which includes your video. Use it in sales presentations, make sure it's seen by everybody at every opportunity.
