I have been fortunate to work with many very successful entrepreneurs who have achieved great heights in their careers. I have identified ten traits which these people exhibit and which, if we emulate their behaviour, will drive our businesses to achieve greater results:
Trait 1: Desire for Success: build your life on the maxim that “it's your desire not your ability that determines your success”.
Trait 2: Striving for More: never remain content – you must always strive for bigger / faster / better in your business.
Trait 3: Being Mindful of Failure: having taken risks and seen potential failure, never forget that fear, no matter how successful you are today.
Trait 4: Action NOT Procrastination Brings Results: distinguish yourself by driving action in everyone around you. The one thing that tells successful entrepreneurs apart is their massive desire for action.
Trait 5: Recruiting the Best You Can Afford, Not the Cheapest You Can Get Away With: adopt this as a route to achieving your bigger / faster / better business.
Trait 6: Taking Advice and Responsibility: embrace suggestions from the experts and ensure you remain accountable for all significant decisions.
Trait 7: Not Being Constrained by Tradition: step outside your comfort zone to challenge the way things are usually done.
Trait 8: Delegation is an Opportunity!: use trust as an opportunity to move on to the bigger / faster / better things you're striving for, don't see it as a risk that someone won't perform as well as you.
Trait 9: Ignoring Negative Advice: do not listen to family and friends who are not entrepreneurial; mix with fellow business people for ideas and peer advice.
Trait 10: Demonstrating Positive Thinking in a Very Practical Way: believe that every adversity truly is the seed of equal or greater benefit.
